About the Stadium

Its OLD! The seats are all wood bleachers and the seats are much closer together than at Tech. No backs either. We got our tickets relatively cheap. On the shuttle over to the campus a few couples were talking about how much they spent last year on seats and hotels. These cheap seats cost them 600 a ticket and 600 a night to stay in cheap hotels! Insane!


There is no replay screen or TV screen anywhere. The scoreboards are tiny. I found myself squinting just to see it. Let's just say its SO crowded. I had to put my arm in Patricks because there was no room. The poor guy next to us looked hilarious as he curled his arms and wrists just to get a sip of coke. We were cracking up! People don't get concessions because you can;t eat them when you sit down. In fact there wasn't a single line at any concession stand. There are no TV's on the concourse and few bathrooms. People stand up at TV breaks just to stretch for room. I honestly can't imagine paying 600 bucks for that.

On a better note, it was still a blast (however uncomfortable). The atmosphere was incredible. 120,000 people were there (some outside), the stadium holds roughly 80-90,000. The students all wear the same shirt and have a lot of cheers and hand motions. Kinda like those crazy Aggies. People really get into the game. One woman got up and left (including left behind her hubby) and was like shaking and red. She came back after they scored. Patrick was especially delighted by the Leprechaun. I wonder what the selection process is for that! If you look in the video where they score, he is jumping like crazy at the bottom. Hilarious! When the band spells IRISH on the field is a highlight too. We could still see "Touchdown Jesus" from our seats but not as well as in the past. They added some to the side where he faces. The players all kneel and pray when they run in. I was surprised how many did the sign of the cross. There was also a fly by before the game. It was a lot of fun. We really enjoyed the whole thing. Hopefully we can go back again but this time we are sitting on the TOP row, they looked most comfortable! :)
