We just returned from several days in Detroit. We found a place to live and became more familiar with our surroundings. It started off rough, we arrived on an icy runway at -14 wind chill and ZERO degrees. The best thing was that the natives were surprised and not used to that kind of winter weather. Then our first hotel did not have heat or clean sheets. EEK! But things improved and after a few exhausting days we became more accustomed to the area and are getting excited to arrive.

The highlight of our trip was a visit to the National Shrine of St. Therese of the Little Flower, located in Royal Oak. Coincidentally in college I began praying a novena of this saint and later was given a relic of her. You can see above the amazing photos. We are very thrilled to be able to go to Holy Week Mass there in late March. It was originally built in the early thirties and burned down in 1936. It was rebuilt in art deco style with marble altars and murals brought in from Italy, HAND CARVED. It was inspiring and amazing. We are excited for out families to visit us because we know they will be as amazed as we were.
